SPECIFIC GRAVITY AND DENSITY 11.1 Determine the specific gravity and density of Rolled Erosion Control Products according to ASTM D792, Test Method A. 11.2 The report shall include the individual values along with the average and standard deviation. Note 7: Test specimens used to determine the density of a material must have a mass of 1 to 50 grams. When measuring thin reinforcement scrim materials, experience has shown that a large specimen size (generally measuring 127 mm x 127 mm (5 in. x 5 in.) gently folded and gripped by a clip serves to meet the mass requirements while providing an easily managed specimen. Samples having components representing different polymers should be characterized by determining the density of each component.
