Educational Services

The mission of ECTC is to develop performance standards, uniform testing procedures and guidance on the application and installation of rolled, hydraulic and sediment retention erosion control products. Conducting training courses is central to our mission of educating end-users on the proper design and application of these materials. ECTC makes training courses convenient – you set the date and place, and ECTC will bring the course to you.


ECTC 2 Hour DOT Introduction Course

Course Description

The ECTC DOT Introduction Course, conducted by ECTC Directing Members, will give participants an overview of Rolled Erosion Control Products (RECPs), Hydraulic Erosion Control Products (HECPs) and Sediment Retention Fiber Rolls (SRFRs). Material composition of temporary and permanent RECPs will be described as well as designing with RECPs and the installation process. Participants will be introduced to ECTC’s Standard Specification for RECPs and learn about ECTC and its place within the erosion control industry. Course participants will receive an informational handbook.

Course Description

The ECTC Full-Day DOT Course, brought to you for a day at your office, will be taught by the renowned and published speaker Dr. Jerald S. Fifield and other well known-experts. Topics covered will include: regulations; structural and nonstructural measures; design, installation, and inspection of RECPs; site inspection; installation before, during and after significant rain events; how to repair or replace damaged materials; and how to recompact soil washout areas. All participants will receive a resource book and are encouraged to bring calculators for working out design problems.

Cost

The cost for this full-day course is $295 per participant. ECTC offers to subsidize fees for multiple participants to support its mission of providing pertinent information in a timely manner to DOTs, the leading users of RECPs. See chart below for ECTC multiple-participant pricing:

Course Description

The ECTC Installers Training Program is designed to help participants learn the proper methods for erosion control and complying with NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) on their construction site. Course training includes: identifying appropriate temporary and permanent erosion control materials; instruction on proper installation for slopes and channels; problems deriving from incorrect installations; and installation inspection. Completion of this program will improve the quality of RECP installations, provide users with options for dealing with soil erosion, and assist in providing NPDES Phase II compliance.

The Erosion Control Technology Council (ECTC) is a non-profit organization. Its mission is to develop performance standards, uniform testing procedures, and guidance on the application and installation of rolled erosion control products ( RECPs ), hydraulic erosion control products (HECPs) and sediment retention fiber rolls (SRFRs).
