The Erosion Control Technology Council

The erosion control industry consists of a broad range of professions and specialties, including site engineers, consultants, regulatory agencies, earthwork and seeding contractors, erosion control product suppliers and manufacturers. The most rapidly growing segments within the industry are the Rolled Erosion Control Products (RECPs), Hydraulic Erosion Control Products (HECPs) and Sediment Retention Fiber Rolls (SRFRs) markets.

Established in 1992, the Erosion Control Technology Council (ECTC) has set its mission to be the recognized industry authority in the development of standards, testing, and installation techniques for rolled erosion control products (RECPs), hydraulic erosion control products (HECPs) and sediment retention fiber rolls (SRFRs). ECTC promotes the use of RECPs, HECPs and SRFRs through education and industry leadership, and assists specifying agencies, engineers, designers and other interested individuals and organizations in the proper application of products and establishment of testing standards.

ECTC: 14 Years of Accomplishments

Mission and Goals

ECTC’s mission is to be the recognized industry authority in the development of standards, testing, and installation techniques for rolled erosion control technologies. ECTC promotes the use of RECPs, HECPs and SRFRs through education and industry leadership, and assists specifying agencies, engineers, designers, and other interested individuals and organizations in the proper application of products and establishment of testing standards.

ECTC's mission has grown even more important as new end-users look for guidance in employing RECPs, HECPs and SRFRs to comply with more stringent erosion/sediment control regulations.

Membership Categories

Today, ECTC consists of 16 Directing Members, all manufacturers or fabricators of RECPs, and a diverse Associate Membership including RECP, HECP and SRFR distributors, consulting engineers, universities and testing laboratories. Directing Membership is available only to those companies actively manufacturing or fabricating RECPs, HECPs and SRFRs. Associate membership is open to anyone interested in promoting the growth of the RECP, HECP and SRFR industries and the development of guidelines, specifications and educational programs for the effective use of this technology. ECTC Subcommittees

To ensure achievement of ECTC's initiatives, the group has established subcommittees:

Product Testing and Specifications Committee
Targets and tackles tasks involving the review and development of testing standards, application guidelines, and product specifications.
Marketing Committee
Focuses on market data reporting, education and promotion of ECTC and RECP, HECP and SRFR technologies.

ECTC Vision

ECTC is armed with a great deal of knowledge, experience and expertise through its diverse membership, well positioning ECTC to assist regulatory agencies in specification development, educate engineers and contractors on effective erosion and sediment control practices, and promote the proper use of RECPs, HECPs and SRFRs in combating the cumulative and detrimental effects of erosion on our environment.

The Erosion Control Technology Council (ECTC) is a non-profit organization. Its mission is to develop performance standards, uniform testing procedures, and guidance on the application and installation of rolled erosion control products ( RECPs ), hydraulic erosion control products (HECPs) and sediment retention fiber rolls (SRFRs). The ECTC promotes the use of erosion control mats and blankets through industry leadership and education in the hope of making a broad contribution to the science of erosion control and environmental preservation.
